Precision Laser Cutting of Stainless Steel

Project description: 

A malter in the food industry contracted CIM Metals to design and manufacture this strainer section to replace an obsolete item no longer available from the OEM supplier.  Our designers were able to reverse-engineer the piece by referencing the defective part for base measurements and modifying the design to accommodate its replacement.  The part required over 1,000 staggered slots, a major fabrication processing challenge.  Normally a plate with this many laser cuts would distort due to heat buildup and affect the integrity of the steel itself.  The problem was resolved by developing a dispersed CNC path that minimized heat effects.  The high-precision finished product was cut on our CO2 laser machine and delivered within three days.
