Custom Water Jet Cutting of Aluminum
A customer asked manufacture decorative finials used in commercial lighting fixtures. Although the product didn’t require precision tolerances, edge finish was important as an artistic feature. The finials were cut from 3/8” thick aluminum plate using our abrasive water jet cutting system. This process leaves a clean, smooth edge, eliminating the need for secondary finishing and tumbling. By removing two of three traditional manufacturing steps, CIM Metals was able to produce 500 of these parts in just three days.
